Restraining Orders

Restrain yourself-- because our topic for today’s Dr. Law is restraining orders.

This clip shares some great information about getting a restraining order when you need one and what that order does once you get it in place. Remember: restraining orders are available to you if you need protection, and it is your right as a U.S. citizen to be protected from things like abuse, stalking, and telephone harassment. And if you have been the recent victim of domestic violence, you may even be eligible for an emergency restraining order which takes effect immediately.

Don’t wait around for things to get better. Learn how a restraining order can protect you in this episode of DR. LAW.

Sobriety CheckPoints

Anyone who drinks has had to deal with the idea of the DUI. And whether you think about it before you measuring out your cocktail or after you polish off a keg, it’s something that bears consideration—especially if you’re planning to pick up your keys and fire down the Interstate.

Police know that people don’t always make the best decisions when alcohol is involved, and Sobriety Checkpoints end up being established in order to discourage drinkers from getting behind the wheel. But what if you’ve pulled into a checkpoint with a couple of beers in your belly? Can you be dragged off to the drunk tank? Lose your license? What are your rights? And do you really have to submit to field sobriety tests?

Learn about sobriety checkpoints and your rights in this episode of DR. LAW.
